We research before we write
Every guide starts with the best available information: veterinary associations, peer-reviewed research, breed authorities, and professional sources. We do not rewrite what is already online. We check the underlying sources, apply our own judgment, and aim to give you something more useful than what you would find by searching yourself.
We use credible sources
We link to primary sources so you can check our work. For health and care content, we prioritize veterinary institutions, professional associations, and academic sources over general-interest websites. We never fabricate statistics, studies, or quotes.
We are honest about uncertainty
Where experts genuinely disagree, or where research is limited, we say so. We do not manufacture false certainty to make a guide sound more definitive.
We aim for professional review on health content
For health and care topics, we aim to have content reviewed by a licensed veterinary or grooming professional before publication. Where that review is in place, the reviewer's name and credentials are shown on the page. Where it is not yet in place, we say so.
We keep guides up to date
We review our guides regularly and update them when information changes. The date of the most recent review is shown on each page.
We are independent
Our recommendations are our own. When a page contains affiliate links, we say so clearly in an inline note and on our affiliate disclosure page. Affiliate relationships never change our advice. We do not accept payment to recommend specific products or services.
Corrections
We take accuracy seriously. If you spot an error, please use the contact page to let us know and we will review and correct it promptly.
